Volleyball reaches the heart of Katutura

IT is only a matter of time before the sport of volleyball becomes one of the most appealing sport code in the country, following the introduction of the sport in schools in the Khomas Region in particular those in Windhoek’s suburb.

This comes after the introduction of the Khomas School Sport Region (KSSR)-Central Volleyball Association (CVA) School Volleyball League that started at the Moses Van Der Byl Primary School on Saturday, October 15.

KSSR-CVA School Volleyball League competition director, Kudakwashe Mutasa said the league would enable the sport to grow in the country.

“We brought volleyball here in Katutura because it is where the people are. We are starting with our development at the grassroots level, which is very important for the country. The more schools we get to participate in the league, the more players we can select for competitions such as the Confederation of School Sport Associations of Southern Africa (COSSASA) games and the national team. This will also mean that we will have a large pool to select players from,” Mutasa said.

KSSR-CVA school volleyball league comprises of the U-13 to U-17 and the next league matches are expected to take place this weekend.
