A. Shipena play host to a Beach volleyball tournament

Afrocat Sports Club hosted its first 2024 Beach Volleyball tournament last weekend at A Shipena Secondary School in Windhoek.It is named after Beltane BVC from Switzerland. The tournament aimed to revive and promote beach volleyball in Namibia. Beltane BVC has been supporting Afrocat Sports Club with equipment such as beach volleyballs.

The event featured exciting games in the heart of Katutura. In the Social Mix category, Coach Thomas Kamutushi battled alongside his under-19 players for the 3rd and 4th playoff spots. Kamutushi and his partner Foibe Kanguru secured third place, while young talents Himezembi Nguende and Leonard Kambonde claimed fourth place.

Henock Kalanja and Meriam Kandemba took second place in the social category. At the same time, Aloysius Ishitile and Ndinghona Hitilasha were crowned champions of the social category at the 2024 Afrocat-Beltane Masters Beach Volleyball Tournament. In the Male 2-Aside Experience category, Ivanhoe Beukes and Josh Beukes finished fourth after losing to Teofelus Shayuka and Shivute Tomas. The final saw a closely contested match between Afrocat Sports Club coaches Thomas Shilumbu and Aloisius Ishitile against

Panashe Chiguta and his partner Mahachi Kundakwashe, with Chiguta and Mahachi emerging victorious with a 2-1 scoreline. The tournament attracted 11 male and 12 Social Mix teams, totalling 46 athletes competing on sandy courts in the heart of Katutura.
