Sakaria’s last dance

By Michael Uugwanga

FORMER World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Featherweight champion Lukas’ Desert Storm’ Sakaria says his bout against Patson Mutengwa of Zimbabwe last Saturday was his final fight in the country.

Like Sakaria, Flame ‘Special One’ Nangolo also plans to have more international fights.

Meanwhile, Nangolo, a Namibian national junior lightweight champion, successfully defended his title against David Shinuna at Wanderers Sports Centre in Windhoek.

Sakaria (39), on the other hand, had one of his easier battles when he stopped Mutengwa in the first round of their fight after the Zimbabwean boxer from Gweru could not recover from his hard body punches.

Before Saturday, Sakaria’s last five fights were in the United States of America (USA) and Mexico, where he won two, drew one, and lost two fights.

His overall record is 25 wins, two losses, and one draw in 28 fights.

Sakaria’s agent is Scott Patrick Farell, while Immanuel Moses is his promoter.

Sakaria, who had previously fought as a featherweight, is now in the same category as fellow local boxer Jeremiah Low-Key Nakathila.

Nakathila, on the other hand, will face United States boxer Ernesto Mercado next month in Ontario, Canada.
