• By Rosalia DAVID

THE year 2021 has been a roller-coaster ride, with many peaks and valleys that have impacted the music industry in a number of ways. But as things come to a close, the months of November and December brought some new and highly anticipated albums to hopefully cap off the last 12 months on a good note musically.

At the beginning of November, upcoming R&B musician Waters released his debut album ‘Grey’ a soulful project which he described as something that anyone can relate to when listening to it.

The 15-track album’s title was inspired by his favourite colour, and reflects its neutral and calm vibes.

He said the album carries songs about teaching young people to pursue their aspirations, and urging them not give up on what they believe in.

With the will to make Afrikaans hip hop music popular, Sman is taking no shortcuts in making his dream a reality.

He has released his third 12-track album titled ‘Vang my Gedagtes’ featuring Chesta Houseprince, Qondja and Joe-K from Zimbabwe.

Sman said the album consists of a mixture of genres to prepare music lovers for the festive season.

Afropop musician Nally also dropped his debut album titled ‘In Limbo’ which he is currently promoting through hosting events at different clubs across Namibia.

Nally said his album has been well received so far and could not have asked for a better time to introduce his body of work.

Top Cheri released her fourth album ‘Dual’ last month and a few songs such as Lambela are already gaining popularity on social media platforms such as TikTok.

Meanwhile, Kwaito star Manxebe also released a 16-track album titled ‘Best album ever’ featuring musicians such as Tate Buti, Page, Neslow, Dama Monique, King Tee Dee, Phatboy, Top Cheri and Quondja.

Budding rapper Babii who made a name for herself after featuring on kwaito guru Exit’s album recently released her debut album titled ‘Get 2 know me’.

On the album she features Dark Vapour, DJ Kboz, Skrypt and Waters.

Popularly known for banging December hits, Tate Buti launched his album titled ‘I Don’t Know’ this week and has already started making waves with some of the new songs already pumping in jukeboxes and bars across the country.
