HELENA Amadhila has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN).
Amadilha who was appointed by GEN Namibia board of directors succeeds Johanna Cloete, the previous Managing Director who helped launched and shape GEN Namibia into what it is now.
Cloete will however remain as board chairperson having led the organisation since 2015.
The announcement was made during Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), a movement meant to celebrate and empower business founders across Namibia and the world.
GEN Namibia is the national host of GEW and has in the past planned other events as part of this year’s campaign, including a Namibia Business Hall of Fame induction ceremony for Namibian and African entrepreneurs who have extensively contributed to their economies.

In her capacity as managing director, Amadhila will lead the planning for Global Entrepreneurship Week celebrations in 2023. She will also lead GEN Namibia’s national Entrepreneurship World Cup competition, StartUp Huddle Programming, and work within the country’s agricultural sector.
“Our team is passionate about what they are doing and is looking forward to taking GEN Namibia to the next level of operations by supporting sustainable economic development in the country,” Amadhila said.
Amadhila who is an entrepreneur, consultant, and lecturer at the University of Namibia (Unam), is passionate about entrepreneurship development and education across the country and the continent.
Since the year 2017, Amadhila has worked hard towards empowering others through entrepreneurial training networking activities, and other events.
She also served on GEN Namibia’s board as vice chairperson from 2018 to 2022Global Entrepreneurship Network President, Jonathan Ortmans said, “Start-ups can flourish in all parts of the world and not just in well-established tech-hubs like Silicon Valley.
“Our collaboration with ecosystem builders like Amadhila in Namibia is proof of that. She helped establish and grow GEN Namibia and will take the organisation to new heights as the new Managing Director.”
