Angolan international Haufiku settling in at Ongwediva Queens..scores two goals on debut

BY Michael Uugwanga

FNB Women Super League (WSL) team, Ongwediva Queens, have signed gifted Angolan international female footballer Ladainha Haufiku.

Haufiku joined Ongwediva Queens this month from Angola club Atletico do Cunene to continue her career outside her home country, with the FNB WSL providing the best option.

Haufiku scored two goals in her team’s 5-1 league victory over Ramblers Women this past Saturday.

Capable of playing in any position except between the goalpost, Haufiku represented Angola’s senior side in the 2021 and 2022 Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) Women’s Championship in South Africa. Confidente spoke with Haufiku about why she chose Ongwediva Queens over other prominent clubs in her home country, given that she is an international player.

She also becomes the first Angolan female footballer in Namibia’s top-division competition.

“It feels great to be playing for Ongwediva Queens because my new teammates have well received me, and I’m honoured to be playing in the FNB Women Super League.

I played in Angola’s Cunene League. It is also difficult to play there, just as in the FNB WSL. I had a terrific time at Atletico Do Cunene but wanted a fresh challenge.
