Athletes waiting for Olympic qualifiers berth

• By Michael Uugwanga

With less than three months to go before the start of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France, only one Namibian athlete—Phillip Seidler, the open-water marathon swimmer — has qualified for the Olympic Games so far.

Other athletes, such as Christine Mboma, Helalia Johannes, Gilbert Hainuca, and Tomas Reinhold, are all vying for that qualification berth. With time ticking very fast, this could also affect preparations for team Namibia ahead of the Olympic Games.

Mboma, a silver medalist in the 200 m at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, is currently in Kenya. She is making her long-awaited return to the international stage in the Kip Keino Classic Continental Tour, which will take place on 20 April in Nairobi.
