Baby raped, killed in Omusati

…as three suicide deaths are recorded in Northern Namibia between Monday and Tuesday

THE police in Omusati region are looking for a suspect who allegedly raped and murdered a one-year-old toddler last weekend after the minor was discovered gruesomely murdered in a house Iitananga village in Ogongo constituency.

According Omusati Police spokesperson, Inspector the toddler’s (name withheld) death was considered of natural causes until a post mortem examination on the body proved otherwise.

“The victim lived with her aunt who on numerous occasions could go to Cuca- shops leaving the toddler with other children.

It appears on the day in question, the older children went to play somewhere leaving her sleeping in a room. The suspect to advance of this, came and raped her before killing her instantly. It is very bad thing to think of,” she stressed whilst urging parents and guardians to keep a keen eye on their children.

Another rape incident was reported in Oshana where a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a suspect at Omaalala village in Oshana.

Oshana police said the victim was lured by a suspect to his room who allegedly forcefully removed her clothes and indulged in the dastardly act. The incident happened on Monday and the suspect is yet to be arrested.

The police are busy investigating the matter.
