Benson set for Kobe Para-athletics World Champs showdown

Paralympics’ golden girl and 2012 gold and silver medallist in the 200m and 100m T37, Johannes Benson, is set to compete at the World Para-athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan, from May 17 to 25.

Over 1000 athletes will compete in the 11th edition of the Para-Athletics World Championship, hosted at the Kobe Universiade Memorial Stadium, one of Japan’s premier multi-purpose venues, with competitors competing in 171 events.

Since earning a gold and silver medal at the London Paralympics, Benson, who now carries a diplomat passport, has yet to match her success at international tournaments. However, she remains optimistic about her future successes.

Benson, 34, has been working hard to prepare for the World Championships, originally scheduled for 2022 but moved to this year.

After her recent participation in the Uranium Rossing Marathon Champion, Benson spoke to Confidente, where she won a gold medal for the 5km fun walk.
