Bowlers honour late Joubert…As national team is selected for Regional Tournament…

THE Namibia Bowling Association (NBA) recently hosted the Sandy Joubert Alternating Trips Competition at Eros Bowling Club in honour of local bowler, Sandy Joubert, who recently passed away due to Covid-19.

All members of the Namibian Bowling community were invited to take part in the competition where a total amount of N 500 was up for grab.

The competition was won by team, Hen en Huiken, which comprised of Johan Jacobs, Huipie van Wyk and Hailey van Wyk, while second position went to team Axleenpi which was made up of Axel Krahenbuhl, Anjuleen Viljoen and Piet Appollis.

Meanwhile, NBA this past weekend, held national trials to select teams for both male and female to represent the country at future competitions, including the quadrangular tournament that is slated for Cape Town, South Africa from November 27 to December 03.

The competition in South Africa will be contested by host South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

While there are also other major competitions slated for next year, such as the World Bowls Tournament and the African States Tournament which Namibia will be hosting.

Below are the bowlers that were selected for the national team, following the trials held over the past weekend in Windhoek, to take part at the quadrangular competition.

Ladies: Bianca Lewis, Diana Viljoen, Anjuleen Viljoen and Marietjie van den Bergh.

The side selected for the 2023  World Bowls Tournament and the African States Tournament are, Men:Andre Campbell,Axel Krahenbuhl,Graham Snyman,Gideon Appollis,Cabous Olivier,Ronan Olivier,Christo Steenkamp,Johan Jacobs,Schalk van Wyk,Waylon Wentzel,Willie Esterhuizen,Colin Peake,Freddie Fouche and JP Fouche.
