Boxing board not receiving sitting allowance-Tjongarero

SPORT Minister Agnes Tjongarero says investigations have established that no Namibia Professional Boxing and Wrestling Control Board (NPBWCB) board member is and has been paid to attend board meetings.

Tjongarero made the statement while on official duty at the ongoing All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana, where she is leading a local delegation that is taking part in the games.

”I was informed (by the Executive Director’s office, the director of sport, and the NPBWCB) that they (board members) are not receiving any sitting fees because they are all working people, unlike other people who are on boards to make money, these people (board members) are all professionals in various fields,” Tjongarero stated.

Her comments come after Confidente, a few weeks ago, enquired about whether she was aware that the NPBWCB board is being compensated for attending meetings.
