Cabinet decision on employing struggle kids reversed

By Hilary Mare

HIGH Court Judge Justice Thomas Masuku has set aside a Cabinet decision to appoint children of the liberation struggle (struggle kids) in the public service without sitting for interviews.
In a matter brought before the courts by the Ombudsman as the first applicant and Reginald Roman as the second applicant, the matter emanated from a complaint for investigation which was received by the Ombudsman from 11 volunteer workers who were working at Windhoek Central Hospital.

That complaint emanated from recruitment procedures used by the Ministry of Health and Social Services in recruiting children of the liberation struggle into entry level positions within the public service.
