CAPRICORN Foundation has made N$1.5 million available to address poverty and malnutrition in Namibia.

Capricorn Namibia Executive Brand and Corporate Affairs and Executive Officer Marlize Horn said 18 percent of Namibia’s population lives in poverty, and a fifth of Namibian children have stunted growth owing to hunger.

Horns revealed that the group had committed N$40 000 to the Okakarara-based Centre for Strategic Community Innovation, which was established to provide unemployed youth, small garden holders, and the surrounding communities with information on agroecology farming and business skills training to uplift themselves and alleviate poverty, and that the fund would be used to purchase equipment.

The group also donated N$ 300,000 to the Centre for Strategic Community Innovation, a Windhoek-based association that serves the area.
