Choppies, NAFAU sign agreement

CHOPPIES Supermarket Namibia on Tuesday signed an agreement with Namibia Food and Allied Workers Union (NAFAU) to revise the conditions of employment and remuneration levels of its employees.

As per the agreement reached between both the parties, the employees in the bargaining units employed with Choppies Namibia will receive a wage increment of N0 per month and the amount will be paid with retrospectively, i.

e. with effect from October 1 2020.

With this salary increase, Choppies Namibia employees will get almost 25 percent increments in their salary.

Besides, a transport allowance of N$200 per month will also be paid with effect from December 1 2020. The newly signed agreement will remain in force for a period of one year commencing on October 1 2020 to September 30 2021.

Botswana headquartered Choppies group commenced its operations in Namibia in 2017.

Currently, the supermarket chain operates in three Southern African counties, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
