Conference recommends Jolly Phonics for literacy teaching

THE National Conference on Education (NCE-2022) has proposed the adoption of Jolly Phonics as an intervention technique in the foundation phase, which runs from pre-primary to grade three.

This recommendation is consistent with the UN Transforming Education Summit (TES) agenda, which seeks to promote foundational learning and guarantee that all children can read fluently by 2030.

The Jolly Phonics program primarily aims to provide foundation-level learners with critical English literacy skills.

These fundamental abilities are critical for guaranteeing academic achievement during their school years and throughout their future endeavours.  The programme aims to overcome the difficulties many students encounter when learning to read and interpret text successfully during the vital foundation phase of education.
