‘Contaminated’ fish sold to the public at Ondangwa

RESIDENTS of Ondangwa town and surrounding areas face a huge health risk as suspected contaminated fish, caught from the town’s sewage ponds is sold to them.

The fish, sold cheaply, is caught by young men from the ponds situated behind the Oluno rehabilitation centre on the outskirts of the town.

“They are selling people diseases. How do you sell people fish caught from a sewage pond? They need to be reported to the police,” seethed Omakulukuma location resident Hilma Nangonya on Monday, at the sight of three men with bundles of large black catfish strolling in the area unperturbed.
