Council pre-approves over 3 000 erven
By Hertta-Maria Amutenja
THE City of Windhoek Council has pre-allocated 3 035 plots to individuals who have been on the city’s waiting list for years.
This was revealed on Tuesday at a press conference by the newly elected Windhoek mayor, Job Amupanda.
According to Amupanda, the land that has been pre-approved is already available in the informal areas and the allocation of plots will be done in line with the council’s Development and Upgrading Policy which was approved in 2019 to guide the management, formalisation and upgrading of the city’s fast-growing informal settlements.
The location of the pre-allocated land is in the informal settlements of Goreangab, Otjomuise, Havana and Okuryangava in Katutura.
