Covid violators cough up N$800 000 in fines

COVID-19 regulation violators in the Khomas region were last Friday in total fined over N$800 000 in a blitz operation by the law enforcement authorities targeted at ensuring that the region complies with among other regulations, a 9pm curfew.
Khomas regional commander, Commissioner Ismael Basson this week revealed to Confidente that 184 violators were arrested of which 101 were nabbed for breaking the curfew attracting fines of N$428 000, 51 were nabbed for unauthorised gathering and had to cough up N$306 000 while 25 illegal liquor sellers were also arrested attracting fines amounting to N$75 000.
