Damara Chief ‘squanders’ N$200k development funds

CHIEF Juliana Gawanas of the /Khomanin community is allegedly embroiled in a misappropriation of funds saga, in which she stands accused of having squandered close to N$200 000 belonging to the traditional authority for alleged personal gratification.

Well-placed sources have it that the /Khomanin Traditional Authority received the money from Hompa Investment (PTY) Ltd, which is the business arm of the Namibia Traditional Authority Trust (NTRAT).

Hompa generated the income from the 8000 metric tonnes’ fishing quota award from the fisheries ministry as part of its objectives to improve the livelihoods of traditional communities in Namibia.
