Damaseb quits Beauties FC in FNB WSL

ERROL Damaseb has quit his role as head coach of FNB Women Super League (WSL) side Beauties FC after three years at the helm.

He left the post after guiding Beauties FC to a second-place finish in the 2023/2024 FNB WSL behind champions FC Ongos Ladies.

In 2022, Damaseb guided Beauties FC to a third-placed finish behind Girls and Goals in second place and league champions FC Ongos Ladies, previously known as Tura Magic Ladies, which also saw Beauties FC striker Fiola ‘Haaland’ Vliete becoming the first player in the league to score an astonishing 57 FNB WSL goals.

Damaseb has also helped Beauties FC reach the semi-final of the PSTBET/Namibia Football Association (NFA) Cup before losing out to Khomas NamPol for a place in the final.

Beauties FC will now face Namibia University of Namibia Science and Technology (NUST) Babes FC for a third/fourth place finish in the PSBET/NFA Cup this Saturday at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek.

This also means that Damaseb will not be on the touchline against NUST Babes.

Beauties FC, who were previously known as Okahandja Beauties during the early days of women’s football, is a team from Okahandja but is currently based in Windhoek because the majority of its players are residing in the capital and is owned by its former striker and former Brave Gladiators goal-poacher Salome Iyambo.

The youthful coach, Damaseb, is also a teacher by profession at Augeikhas Primary School in Windhoek and is set to join another football club but could not reveal the name of his next club when asked.

He also thanked the Beauties FC’s management for their kind support towards him, even during difficult times.

“I have left my position as head coach of Beauties Football Club. It was a tough decision to make. Still, I feel it is time for me to venture into new opportunities in my coaching career as I think I have overstayed my position as head coach and that it is time to allow other aspiring coaches to lead the team to greater heights.

“I am very thankful to the club to have granted me this opportunity to grow as a coach and now it is time to look at other opportunities and new challenges,” said Damaseb.
