DJ Yessonia set for African conquest

WITH her star rising, the sky is the limit for Sonia Shalukeni aka DJ Yessonia who has been nominated in three continental awards.

A newcomer on the entertainment scene, DJ Yessonia has made a name for herself and has been nominated for the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) to be held from 3 to 6 November 2022.

The Swakopmund born Dj is nominated in categories of Best Female Artiste in South Africa, Best Female African Dj and Best Artist Duo or Group in African Electro for her collaboration with Boohle.

Dj Yessonia’s music can be described as sophisticated and ‘Namibianised’ Amapiano music. She is currently riding high with her Amapiano anthems that are getting traction from all over the world.

“Her other smash-hit Thanda Wena is sitting on over 12.4 million organic impressions on South Africa terrestrial radio stations with over a 110 plays across over 18 radio stations in South Africa alone,” said Shimbayu Chivuno, Yessnonia’s Manager and Owner of TNA Music and Entertainment.

Chivuno described Yessonia as a great musical ambassador and was proud of the hard work she had put in.

It is hard to tell that she just been a Dj for only 9 month because of the amount of work she has put in and positive feedback we have received. She is a great musical ambassador who is working hard to put the country on the musical map,” Chivuno said.

Dj Yessonia is an entrepreneur, a producer, and a well-known female DJ in Namibia. She is a trail blazer in the music and entertainment business, as she is currently on two of the most popular shows on the National broadcaster, which are Good Morning Namibia and Whatagwan.

The awards are sponsored by African Union Commission, in partnership with the International Committee.
