Double headers in FNB WSL caused havoc in injuries to players

• By Michael Uugwanga

THE FNB Women’s Super League (WSL) has turned into a hospital instead of a football competition, as more players are sustaining injuries because of the congested fixtures in the women’s game.

To make matters worse, in women’s football, only one club pays players monthly grants to cover their expenses, including medical expenditures. In contrast, the rest of the 11 clubs in the league only rely on the little grants they receive from the sponsors through the Namibia Football Association (NFA).

On Sunday, April 29, instead of the spectators enjoying the game of football at the NFA Technical Center, they were watching players sustaining various types of injuries that resulted in three players being rushed to hospitals by ambulance.
