Drought implications cut through regions

THE recurrent drought currently ravaging the country is threatening the livelihood of more than 700,000 Namibians who have become food insecure, President Hage Geingob has revealed. Namibia has experienced five consecutive years of below-normal rainfall, with the 2018/19 season described as one of the worst in decades. Geingob recently declared a State of Emergency on account of the persistent drought.
