Eleven minors identify ‘paedophile pastor’

• By Tracy Tafirenyika

A50-year-old German missionary, Flick Ramon, has been arrested after being identified by 11 minors as a paedophile operating in the Kunene region, Confidente can exclusively reveal.

The suspect appeared in court on November 29 and is currently in custody.

Ramon, who established an orphanage in the region, Papa Ramon’s Hope Kids, which is meant to provide a safe haven, education and a daily dose of the gospel to children in need from pastoralists, was arrested after community members reported him to law enforcement authorities who subsequently launched an investigation and arrested him for alleged sexual conduct with the minors.

Ramon has been doing missionary work among different tribes in northern Namibia. His orphanage, Papa Ramon’s Hope Kids on its website highlights that it focuses primarily on girls, because they are usually not given an opportunity to attend school because of child marriages (early engagement), the parent’s desire to obtain a high bride price (usually goats), and their role as work horses (fetching water, collecting fire wood, etc).
