Engela hospital plagued by lack of dentists

… patients travel up to 120km for dental treatment

THE largest hospital in the Ohangwena region does not have dentists to take care of older patients who require dental treatment. This, Confidente established from people, some of whom live in close proximity to the hospital, who expressed their frustration on the long distance they have to travel to Eenhana in order to get dental treatment whilst having a hospital in their backyard.

“We are suffering a lot. Imagine having to travel past Engela hospital to go to Eenhana when having an aching tooth that you want extracted,” Leonard Dengeinge from Ouhongo village, a few kilometers from Engela told Confidente last week.

According to him, the journey to and back from his village to Eenhana is roughly 120km and he always has to part with around N0 in cab fees.
