Far North wins inaugural handball regional championships

THE Far North volleyball team was crowned champions of the first edition of the handball regional championships after defeating host //Karas Under-19 boys’ team 17-15 in the final match at Kronlein Primary School in Keetmanshoop.

The two-day event brought together teams from //Karas, Erongo, Otjikoto region and the Far North team comprising of Omusati, Ohangwena, and Oshana regions in the U15, U17, U-18, and U-19 age divisions.

The players on the court did not disappoint in a tournament organised in a round-robin format, with each team playing an equal number of games, where the Far North team accumulated the most overall points in all age groups.

In a game that ended 17-15, Far North led 09-07 at half-time before drawing 08 all in the second half of a highly entertaining match.
