THE Namibian police at Oshikoto have arrested Johannes Shigwedha for allegedly impregnating his biological daughter, age 18.

Shigwedha appeared in Tsumeb Magistrates Court last week and was granted bail of N$2 500 by Magistrate Ruben Mutuku, but he was told not to be in direct or indirect contact with his daughter, or her mother while the case is ongoing.

According to court records, the complainant (Shigwedha’s daughter) is pregnant.

He was also ordered not to visit the complainant’s school where she stays and not to interfere with the ongoing investigation.

The matter was then postponed to 6 December.

Confidente reported earlier this month that a Grade 7 learner from Omusati region had – according to the police – also been impregnated by her biological father, who has reportedly been sexually abusing his child since December last year.

The suspect in that case, a retired soldier, was arrested on the eve of his wedding at his house while he was preparing for his wedding day.
