FNB is not putting a plug on women’s football

AFTER rumours circulated that First National Bank (FNB) Namibia will end its three-year sponsorship of the Women Super League (WSL) with one year still left, FNB manager for sponsorship and promotions strategic Marketing and Communication Gordon Pokolo has rubbished such claims.

Last year, FNB injected N$7 5 million over three seasons into the Women’s Super League, with the aim of giving a girl child an opportunity to showcase her talent and help develop women’s football in the country after nearly three years without domestic football, including that of men.

The first season saw 14 clubs competing in the FNB WSL, which was won by current reigning champions FC Ongos Ladies, who were then Tura Magic Ladies before the name change.
