Forgotten liberation icon succumbs to heart failure

TO some he may have been a political demagogue, to others a rabble-rouser but to many a Namibian, the late AttieBeukes will be remembered as revolutionary leader who would stop at nothing in his quest for justice and equality for all.
Beukes was influenced by his grand uncle, Samuel Jacobus Beukes, the first Namibian petitioner to the League of Nations (a precursor of the United Nations) shortly after the First World War in 1919.
