From security guard to successful poultry farmer
… Gustav Uunona’s inspiring story

THEY say dynamite comes in small packages, and this is exactly the case with poultry farmer Gustav Uunona. Uunona was a security guard before venturing into poultry farming, a rare tale in northern Namibia if not Namibia at large, and his story is an inspiring one.
After working as a security guard from 2011 to 2014, his fortunes changed, in an unanticipated way.
During the spring of 2014, in August to be exact, he was stationed at the Ongwediva trade fair. His job? To protect property. It was here that he met a woman Salome Petrus, an exhibitor who was showcasing and selling different types of chicken breeds.
“I immediately liked and adored her work that I decided to buy four chicks to start my own chicken farm at home,” Uunona told Confidente at Okandjengedi in Oshakati where he breeds and sells some of his chickens and eggs.
