Fuelling business with stolen meat

THE country is grappling with a high number of stock theft cases that remain unresolved and in some cases if the suspects are arrested, they are released on bail.

Thieves especially in the Otjozondjupa, Otjiwarongo, Omaheke and Khomas regions are now slaughtering animals for human consumption and auctioning the meat for money gain to small meat business companies, Confidente can exclusively reveal.

Investigations have shown that a number of meat businesses in Windhoek are having their beef supplied by cattle herders from farms in Okahandja, Omaheke and Otjozondjupa for a low price.
