GBV cop enmeshed in Hango bribery scandal

A law enforcement officer at the Gender Based Violence unit in Oshakati, Lavinia Shilongo is being accused of allegedly obstructing the course of justice through coercing a complainant to accept a N$10 000 bribe.

According to a petition by concerned members of the community, Shilongo was the first investigating officer to handle the case of northern businessman Sindano Hango who was convicted of rape in the Oshakati High Court last month after the State successfully appealed against his acquittal.
