Government rakes in N$4.7 million from Covid-19 fines

THE Namibian police has issued out fines worth N$4 750 250 to more than 3 000 people for contravening Covid-19 regulations since the virus outbreak in Namibia in March last year.
This was revealed to Confidente by head of directorate: crime prevention, Commissioner Christoph Nakanyala.
“During the period under review (March 17 2020 to February 10 2021) a total number of 3 130 people were fined for contravening the Covid-19 regulations and the total of all fines issued stood at N$ 4 750 250,” he said.
