Government to appeal against Fisheries director’s reinstatement

THE government is appealing against an order from the Labour Commissioner to reinstate former deputy director Anna Erastus who was sacked in July 2020.

Erastus was a deputy director in the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources and headed the directorate responsible for allocating fishing quotas.

In 2014, the Anti-Corruption Commission investigated Erastus over allegations that she had received about N$700 000 from Omualu Fishing Company.

Omualu Fishing is a horse mackerel company owned by Swakopmund-based lawyer Sacky Kadhila Amoomo.
