Petrus living his dream after a breakout season

BLUE Waters FC and Brave Warriors striker Junior Petrus believes he could have scored more goals if he had joined the club earlier in his career, where he scored eight league goals in the Debmarine Premiership last season.

Petrus joined the coastal outfits last season from Ongwediva City in the lower division and became an instant hit in the league, which subsequently earned him a spot in the national team setup at the recently held Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) Cup in South Africa.

However, he failed to score in the tournament where the Brave Warriors finished winless with two draws (1–1 against South Africa and nil all against Botswana, and a 2–1 loss to Eswatini).

As he awaits the start of the new season with Blue Waters, who finished second last season, the 23-year-old Petrus says he chose Blue Waters over other teams because of their past achievements. Despite his young age, he made no secret of his ambition to become the finest striker in the division after only one season at the top level.

“I could have scored more goals if I had joined Blue Waters earlier. I need time to grow and improve my football, but I believe in my quality. I chose Blue Waters because they are a large team with a long history. It was a good season for me; finishing second in my first season means a lot to me, and I would love to establish myself as the division’s number one striker,” Petrus stated.
