Govt shoots down calls to reopen training centres

THE government has shot down propositions by the Students Union of Namibia (SUN) to reopen health training centres saying these have been covered by the advent of enough tertiary institutions in the country.
According to Students Union of Namibia (SUN), in 2019, the Ministry of Health and Social Services indefinitely suspended the training of nurses at all health training centres countrywide citing lack of funds.

However the ministry stated that, the reason for the suspension was due to absence of local training institutions that could offer those courses, coupled with staff shortage at the time.
