Green Hydrogen: Namibia scores a first
• By Allexer Namundjembo
Namibia scored first in Africa by launching a green hydrogen service station. President Nangolo and Belgium King Fillipe jointly launched the Cleanergy Solutions green hydrogen service station in the Namib Desert on Thursday this week.
Mbumba said that if you had talked about green hydrogen four years ago, some people would have told you something was not right in your mind.
Mines minister Tom Alweendo said that when people see this [the launch], they can begin to understand that it is accurate.“It’s not just concept, it’s not just theory. This is something real that can actually recreate our economy and grow much faster than what we have achieved in the past,” he said.
He added that green hydrogen is the realisation of Namibia’s economic and growth strategies. Alweendo said green hydrogen was a deliberate strategy to calibrate the economy and find better ways to grow it.
