Grootfontein delegates to congress elected through wrong structure

SWAPO’S Branch Coordinator for Kaxumba Kandola Branch in Grootfontein, Lovisa Iyambo, has raised an alarm that the Grootfontein district has elected delegates to the Swapo congress through a structure which is against the party’s constitution.
Iyambo wrote a letter to the Grootfontein District Coordinator, James Shipunda ,on 5 September to convene an urgent meeting to rectify the mistake in order to confine to the party’s constitution.
“Dear Comrade Coordinator, we hereby want to draw your attention to the irregular and wrongful election of delegates to the 7 the Swapo Party Congress.
We detected in the Swapo Party Constitution that such delegates should be elected by the District Conference as per Chapter 8, Article 443 (9), which says it shall elect four delegates from the district executive members to the Congress of the Party of whom two shall be women”
“As you are aware, the election was not through the District Conference but rather through the District Executive. It is against this background that we request you to draft a letter to the Election Committee chaired by Cde Hilma Nikanor, to correct this oversight as a matter of urgency.
