Gwetu talks latest musical piece

THE adage “music can heal the soul” is one that kwaito star Kudumo Godfried, known by his stage name Gotty Gwetu, sincerely believes in as he aims to speak to people through his latest single.

The local music scene has diversified over the years, creating avenues for musicians to speak about the daily hardships that most people encounter, allowing music to relate to everyday life.

The kwaito and mbigazange musician recently released a video for his latest offering, ‘Posinyanga’, featuring Rodney Rich and Big Luke on YouTube.

In an interview, Gwetu said ‘Posinyanga’ is a place where people meet after a long work day to have a good time with friends and family.

’Posinyanga’ is centred on winding down after a long day to have a good time with family and friends. It’s always nice to have friends and family who are always close by,” he remarked.

Gwetu encouraged musicians to make music that has the power to change people’s lives by encouraging them in their daily hardships.

“These days, we have a lot of suicide cases in our country because people are going through a lot of mental issues as well as a high unemployment rate and loneliness, and in my song, I’m talking about coming together, refreshing, and just trying to enjoy each other’s company and take ourselves from the hardships. Big Luke and Jackie produced the music video, and I encourage people to go watch it on YouTube and support local music,” he continued.
