AS part of his studies in the United States of America, Usakos-born Pieter Hailombe plays soccer in the USA for AFC Columbia in the Midwest premier league.

The Midwest Premier League is an American amateur and semi-professional soccer league, which spans primarily the eastern and central portions of the Midwestern United States.

The Midwest Premier League is equivalent to the expelled Namibia Premier League (NPL) and now the Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL).

Hailombe made a big name for himself for second division outfits Khuse Lions FC from Oshakati, which reached the quarter-finals of the MTC/Namibia Football Association (NFA) Cup last year.

He was also part of the Khuse Lions FC side that reached the MTC/NFA round of 16 in the Debmarine/NFA Cup in 2018.

“I came to the States in August last year when I was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship. I live in the City of Columbia, in the State of Missouri which is located in the mid-west. I am studying and playing soccer at the same time. I play for AFC Columbia in the Mid-West Premier League.

I joined the club in February this Spring. I am currently playing as a winger and as a right back.

One year contract,” said Hailombe.

On future call-up to the Brave Warriors squad, Hailombe said it is his dream to represent the country.

“I think it is every boy’s dream to represent his country, through playing the sport that he loves and I am no exception. I got a chance to represent my country  at the Red bull Neymar Jr Five ( 5) World Finals in Brazil in 2018, and I had a fire burning in my belly ever since. No, I have never been contacted by any technical member of the NFA regarding a future call up.
