Helao Nafidi accused of delaying electricity opening …Residents want electricity before the election

RESIDENTS of the Olunghono and Omusabwa informal settlements of the Helao Nafidi town in Ohangwena have accused the town council of delaying the opening and commissioning of electricity in their settlements.

The residents, some of whom spoke to Confidente, expressed dismay at the council’s failure to open and commission the electricity, saying the council is robbing them of an opportunity to enjoy the fruits of independence and conduct business activities within their localities.

The residents were relocated to the two informal settlements about four years ago. Save for water, they lack electricity and proper ablution facilities, and many visit the bush when nature calls.
