Human remains found on farm near Uis
By Confidente Reporter
A goat herder on a farm near Uis found the remains of a deceased person lying in the field shortly after midday over the weekend. It is suspected that the remains were that of a man who worked or lived at Farm Le Water, which is situated between Uis and Henties Bay.
The goat herder thereafter informed his employer about the gruesome discovery but due to network problems in the area, the local police were only notified of the case at around 11h00 on Tuesday.
The skeletal remains were discovered under a tree. With the remains of the unidentified person was a belt, grey/white trousers, blue overall jacket, black socks, size 6-7 boots and a bottle of roll-on mum. It is suspected that the person died about 3 to 4 months ago, but no one has been reported missing in that area. The police said at this stage the cause of death is unknown.
The skeletal parts were taken to Uis State mortuary from where it would be transported to Walvis Bay Police mortuary for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Anyone missing a relative in the area is requested to contact Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu on 0812464757, or Detective Sergeant Muduva on 0812137799 or the nearest police station for identification purposes.
