By Confidente Reporter

IN keeping with the worrying trend, whereby a number of people have over the past few months taken their own lives, it emerged this week that a 3-year-old woman was found hanging in the toilet ofher home this week.

According to the police, “It is alleged that, on Sunday, 13 October 2019 between 14h00 and 15h00, Victoria Hedelina Angustus, a 30-year-old Namibian female (deceased) came home to their residence in Mahetago suburb from DRC suburb and informed her husband that she was moving out and started packing her belongings.

The police said the woman allegedly also wanted some household item but the husband refused.

“She allegedly took a kitchen knife to stab the husband but he overpowered her, took the knife away and he went to sit outside,” Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu told the press. “After half an hour the husband allegedly went back to the room but he didn’t find the deceased in the room, she locked herself in the toilet.

He said, “The husband just went to sleep. Around 18h30 when he woke up he allegedly tried to call the deceased but there was no response. He called the deceased’s sister and informed her about what was happening.

At about 19h00 the sister came with her boyfriend and broke the toilet door open and discovered the deceased hanging from a towel bar.

[She had] used a black cable.”

Despite suggestions of a heated argument and violent altercation in the house earlier that night, Iikuyu said “No foul play is suspected. No suicide note found. The next of kin were informed. The body was taken to Walvis Bay Police Mortuary for post mortem examination to determine the cause of death. Investigation continues.”
