Hypersomnia prevents Filipus from Gladiators’ call-up

• By Michael Uugwanga

ONGWEDIVA Queens talented attacker Albertina Filipus has been one of the most consistent performers in the last two seasons in the FNB Women Super League (WSL) however a call-up to the Brave Gladiators is unlikely to happen because of the hypersomnia disease.

Hypersomnia (excessive sleepiness) is the inability to stay awake and alert during the day despite having more than adequate nighttime sleep.
Ironically, Filipus (19) has previously been called up to Brave Gladiators trials but was unable to make the final squad on several occasions.

In most cases, when the players are busy training at the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Technical Center, she sleeps in the girls’ centre that accommodates national team players who are on duty.
