Illegal N$4.6m Air Namibia training scheme exposed

EMPLOYEES of ailing national carrier, Air Namibia have for four years been milking the airline claiming up to N$4.6 million for training their colleagues despite this being part of their remunerated work, Confidente can reveal.

These revelations came to light after the General Manager for Human Resources, Elia Erastus this week launched legal proceedings against the airline’s employee unions for an ‘unwarranted attack on his persona’ after the unions wrote to Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Theo Mberirua on July 30 requesting him to investigate “unethical and a violation of set standards, policies, rules, procedures, good practice and laws” by Erastus.
