The battle-lines have been drawn in the FNB Women Super Leagues (WSL), as three formidable teams are set to battle it out in the coveted title race.    These are the Beauties FC leading the way in the top, followed by reigning champions FC Ongos Ladies and in third place are African Stars Queens.

Beauties are topping the chart with 42 points from 16 league matches followed by FC Ongos with 41 points from 17 games and African Stars Queens in third position with 39 points from 17 matches.

Another team that is not far off from those running for the title is Khomas NamPol Ladies with 33 points from 17 matches.
FC Ongos have won the FNB WSL the last two seasons, while Beauties came second last season. Beauties were however, third in the league, while African Stars Queens have never finished in the top four.

With five league matches still to go, it appears as if the title race will continue until the last day of the season. The past weekend, Beauties collected six points, a 2-1 win over Arrows Ladies on Saturday (10 May), before defeating injury-hit Julinho Athletic 1-0 on Sunday (11 May). Meanwhile, FC Ongos had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Khomas NamPol Ladies on Saturday (10 May) before thrashing Windhoek City 5-2 on Sunday. African Stars Queens on the other hand beat Julinho Athletic 2-1 on Saturday before playing out to a goalless draw against Arrows Ladies.

Beauties FC currently has the best defensive record having let in five goals whole season, followed by African Stars Queens who have just let in seven goals, while FC Ongos have let in 14 goals. Upfront, FC Ongos have been clinical with a whopping 66 goals scored, while Beauties have only scored 54 goals and Stars have only scored 31 goals. NamPol are the second top scorer at this stage with 58 goals scored but have let in 18 goals.

At the bottom, Okahandja FC situation does not look good with the team sitting in last position, at the 12th place with five points, while second from bottom side Namibi Daughters are in 11th position with eight points.

NUST Babes are in 10th place with nine points, three points behind ninth place team V-Power Angels. Windhoek City are occupying eighth place with 22 points, one point adrift of seventh place holder Julinho Athletic.  UNAM Bokkies have 24 points in sixth place, a point behind fifth placed side Arrows.

The bottom two teams at the end of the season are expected to be relegated at the end of the season, and will be replaced by two new teams come next season.
