Supporters’ Jerseys To Be Available From March

The long-awaited national sports supporters’ jersey, unveiled last August, will be available for public purchase next month.
Launched by the Namibia Sport Commission (NSC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Communication, and Technology, and the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Service, the jersey aims to foster unity and national pride through sport.
Since the launch, the public has inquired about the jersey’s availability, despite seeing it worn by Minister of Information and Technology, Emma Teofelus, NSC Chief, Freddy Mwiya, and Minister of Sport, Youth, and National Service, Agnes Tjongarero, at the launch event.
“After careful consideration of the entire production process for the supporters’ jerseys and tracksuits, we advised the business consultant to engage local manufacturers to maximize production at minimal cost. The local manufacturer and the business consultant will finalize a contract within days, and production will commence. Samples have already been provided to and approved by the NSC,” stated Giveans Samulandela, NSC’s marketing and communication officer.
“Fans will be able to purchase the outfits as soon as all logistical matters are finalized, hopefully by the first week of March 2025,” Samulandela added.
Samulandela also addressed the reasons for the purchasing delay.
Initially, the national sports supporters’ jerseys were to be manufactured in South Africa, contributing to the delay.
“The delay was caused by changes in the supplier/production company. The initial company was South African-based; however, a Namibian company has now been selected to produce these items. Strategic points of sale and distribution will be identified once the merchandise is available, ensuring accessibility for all consumers and affordable prices,” Samulandela explained.
