In an electrifying display of talent and determination, young players battled for supremacy at the just-concluded Namibian Junior National Table Tennis Competition. The competition, sponsored by Phoenix Insurance Namibia, was a crucial test for Namibia’s rising stars ahead of the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games slated for 5 to 12 July 2025. 

The presence of coach Simon Gologolo has undeniably elevated the players’ level  as spectators were treated to intense matches, particularly in the boys’ under-19 and under-15 quarter-finals.  Kamrouz Ghayouri triumphed over Kevin Zhang in the quarter finals of the under-19 division, while Agape Chicalu took on newcomer Fillemon Ikanda in a riveting showdown, which Agape narrowly won.

The under-19 category saw an impressive domination by Caden Bosman, while the under-15 event featured a strong comeback by Kevin Zhang, who defeated Kamrouz Ghayouri to claim victory.  In the under-13 girls’ division, Kelly Zhang asserted her dominance, while Cadence Farmer set the pace in the under-15 category. 

In the under-19 girls’ competition, Lian Gebauer emerged victorious.
The boys’ matches were equally thrilling, with the under-13 title claimed by Fillemon Ikanda in a gripping final against Terrence Kadandara. 

 Kevin Zhang showcased his strength in the under-15 category, and Caden Bosman secured the under-19 crown. Doubles matches provided further excitement, with Lian Gebauer and Cadence Farmer taking the girls’ doubles title.  In the boys’ doubles, Kamrouz Ghayouri and Kevin Zhang emerged victorious, while the mixed doubles was won by the formidable pair of Lian Gebauer and Kamrouz Ghayouri.

With the generous support of Phoenix Insurance Namibia, these young athletes had the opportunity to refine their skills and prepare for their upcoming international challenge.
