Kautjituavi’s brilliance dominates Build It tournament
By Michael Uugwanga
The Build It under-13 netball and football tournament is more than just a competition to allow learners to play. It is also a platform for pupils to demonstrate their talents against one another.
This was the case for Ngumbiro Kautjituavi, a Grade 7 learner at Gammams Primary School in Windhoek, who helped her school’s netball team win the 2023 Build It netball division a fortnight ago against Bethold Himumuine Primary School at A.
I Steenkamp Primary School in Katutura.
Kautjituavi, who played in the goal-attack position, was vital in her team’s title run, helping her side win 8-7 in a tense final in which Berthold led 5-3 at half-time.
According to Kautjituavi, the Build It competition allows emerging athletes to demonstrate their raw talent and such an event is needed regularly.
Despite her performance, Kautjituavi was not named the best netball player; her teammate, goalkeeper Metarere Tjikuro, was named the best performer.
