Kavango label takes music to the people

ONE of the biggest record labels in Kavango East, Futuristic, is gearing up for its first road tour which will kick off on November 20 in Rupara settlement at Kahenge Constituency.

Speaking to Confidente, Future Hatutale who is one of the founders of Futuristic said the aim of the tour is to allow musicians signed under the label to showcase their talent to the rest of the country.

“We decided to call on all the places that are currently happening in our region and book venues for our artists to perform the entire night on different dates.

Musicians have been badly affected by the pandemic and we had to do something to revive them,” he said.

He said the roadshow will also instill some sense of hope back amongst musicians as many are starting to throw in the towel.

“The pandemic has left a few musicians reconsidering doing music which is a good thing because some have now started thinking about investing more into other businesses but for those who genuinely just do music for a living, something needed to be done.

Futuristic has the likes of popular Rapid FM radio personality and singer DJ Macaroni, Ayce Flame, Sito-Jah and ZeMoney signed under the label.

“The name says it all ‘Futuristic’. It is the African dream come true. It blends culture, technology, science, wisdom and wealth with arts. Every project turns into gold. The recipe is God, hard work, faith, loyalty, respect, communication, quality and creativity,” he added.

Digging into the musicians’ profiles, Hatutale described Sito-Jah as a deep-rooted artist who blends his vernacular language, Rugciriku with English, while DJ Macaroni is the only female artist on the label and she is also an activist, dream chaser and revolutionist.

Hatutale said the road show will not only focus on performances but will also be a platform to educate fans on GBV, teenage pregnancies and many other social issues.
